Fiftysomething philosophy professor Gilles is in the throes of amour fou with a younger woman, Ariane. At 23, Ariane is the same age as Gilles' grown-up daughter Jeanne and friction is inevitable when Jeanne is forced to move back home to live with her father after her relationship ends in heartbreak.
