Despicable Me 3 (U)

Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda and Eric Guillon co-direct the third instalment of the award-winning computer-animated series, which charts the unlikely redemption of cantankerous supervillain Gru (voiced by Steve Carell). In Despicable Me 3, Gru and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) are fired from their high-profile jobs with the Anti-Villain League (AVL) and nervously share the bad news with their young daughters Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Nev Scharrel). Dr Nefarious (Russell Brand) has accidentally frozen himself in carbonite and the plucky Minions stage a revolt and abandon Gru in search of a Machiavellian master worthy of their talents. In the midst of this upheaval, Gru learns that he has a secret twin brother called Dru (Steve Carell), who has tried and failed to become a criminal like their father. Dru implores Gru to teach him the finer points of villainy so he can assume his rightful place at the head of the family business. This brotherly bonding coincides with the rise of former 1980s child star turned master thief Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker). He intends to reclaims his celebrity status by unleashing a giant laser-blasting robot on Hollywood. The only people standing in his path are Gru, Dru and Lucy.
