Flanked by a companion Tatara, lazy loner Kumatetsu visits the mortal realm and encounters a nine-year-old orphan called Ren, who has recently lost his mother and now lives on the streets. The boy agrees to accompany Kumatetsu to the Beast Realm as his disciple.
