In 1847, Ireland is in the grip of the Great Famine. Martin Feeney lodges temporarily with his brother's widow Ellie and her three children. The Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) evict Martin, Ellie and her brood. In the ensuing struggle, Feeney kills members of the RIC.
