Remy is dying of cancer in a Montreal hospital plagued by staff cutbacks and dwindling budgets. His ex-wife Louise cannot cope and surrounds herself with family and friends including her son Sebastien and his beautiful fiancee Gaelle. When Sebastien learns that heroin is the most effective form of pain relief for his father, he turns to a friend's junkie daughter, Nathalie, for her wares. The love and understanding of friends and family carries Remy on his journey to eternal slumber.
