Starting on the English side of the canal your journey carries you through lush green countryside against a backdrop of purple Welsh hills rising in the distance. Continue your adventure across the river Ceiriog on the 70ft high Chirk Aqueduct, underground through the 459 yard long Chirk Tunnel and onto the spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct – 1000ft long and 120ft high, looking down on the valley of the River Dee.
