The Iron Age fort is sited on the ancient Ridgeway Path and covers eight acres. The 375ft prehistoric figure is below it carved into the chalky hillside. Once thought to be carved to celebrate King Alfred's victory over the Danes in 871, it is now believed to be over 2000 years old. Best viewed from the B4507.
