National Trust Cliveden,Maidenhead Information
Set high above the River Thames with far-reaching views, these beautiful gardens capture the grandeur of a bygone age. Stroll through a series of impressive gardens, each with their own special charm. From the iconic parterre with its ever-changing floral displays to the statuary and topiary in the Long Garden the gardens delight in every season. Formal gardens give way to open glades, majestic woodland and picturesque Thames riverbank with miles of walks to discover.

For families it's a special place to explore with a storybook themed play area, a massive maze and plenty of space to run around. For younger visitors, the Storybook Play Den encourages imaginations to run wild as you play amongst life-size models of favourite storybook characters carved from wood, including Gandalf the wizard, Peter Pan, the villainous Captain Hook and the ever-hungry crocodile. Don't miss the recreated Cliveden Maze which has 500 metres of winding paths and hedges already two metres high - it will certainly challenge all ages!

Visitors can also take a peek inside Cliveden House (now a luxury hotel) with a short guided tour on Thursday or Sunday afternoons from April to October (timed ticket required). There is also an extensive event programme that runs throughout the year including activities during school holidays.
