Southwark Cathedral
For over 1,000 years Southwark Cathedral has been a centre for Christian worship. The oldest part of the present building dates from 1215 with additions in the 1500's and 1800's. Monuments include one of Shakespeare and Sam Wanamaker, founder of the International Globe Centre, Bankside. Guided tours may be booked in advance. Lunch time instrumental concerts and organ recitals take place regularly.
