Tivoli Theatre
The Tivoli Theatre was built in 1936 as a cine/theatre and the tradition of showing both films and live stage shows continues to the present day. Having survived the threat of demolition in 1979 for a rapidly abandoned road scheme, and following a lengthy campaign to save the building, volunteers worked long and hard to get the building into a fit state to open to the public again in 1993. Big audiences for major shows were traditional at the Tivoli, and the theatre has once again achieved the status of a major and thriving 500 seat venue.
